An End to 2019. Hello 2020.

An end to 2019. Hello 2020.

I begin documenting my journey as an artist on the eve of 2020. Come with me on my journey.

So here we are, 19 years into the future and about to enter into the future by one more year.

I have just launched my blog on my website to little fanfare on December 31, 2019. This is it. The reasons for this blog are as follows…

  • Document my journey as a visual artist. A creative person who wants to express himself using visual means.
  • Share my ups and downs of being an artist.
  • Document my journey to make an income as an artist.
  • Inspire others to follow along and do the same.

Over the past 25 years, I have been making my sole income as a graphic designer. That has been a rewarding and inspiring career. But now it’s time to slowly transition to making visual art and having that be my secondary career.

My original career choice, was to be a visual artist. At some point in time, I thought I had to pick a “real” career to actually pursue. So I abandoned art and took up Graphic Design as a trade. I really enjoy graphic design and quite frankly, I’m pretty darn good at it, but something was always missing.

Around 2011, I had the realization that I hadn’t made any art since I was about 20 years old, Graphic Design for client’s has become my only method of expressing myself creatively and I was feeling that I was missing it. It was then that I had began to slowly dabble in visual art again.

So here we are, the eve of 2020 and I’m really feeling that it’s time to begin really making an effort to create art, develop a style that I love and begin selling artwork.

I’ll be using this blog to document my journey and to take you along with me. I’m looking forward to what’s in store. Take care and I’ll see you in 2020!
